I create sweeping images with a large format camera and film.
From ecosystems to cultural icons I make natural photographs based on truth. A long-time resident of Cape Cod, local landscapes are my calling card, though I have traveled the world in search of inspiration.
I compose my panoramic images across multiple sheets of film, exposing each sheet in sequence as I rotate a view camera mounted on a leveled tripod. The vertical gaps you see in my images are intentional, representing the empty spaces that occur where the edges of individual sheets of film touch. Each sheet of film holds enough resolution for massive prints with exquisite detail.
When I produce a panoramic image for presentation, the film is first scanned, then printed and framed individually. With this method, I make some of the world’s largest photographic artworks. All prints are made with archival materials to the highest standards.
In my spare time
I am with my family. My wife and two young boys bring joy and balance to my life. We go on adventures. We stay at home. We have too many interests and passions, and we try to do it all!
